I really enjoyed a conversation last night where my two characters disagreed over how to deal with seeing a thief try to steal a fish from a cart. I really like this setup, as it means that you've got the opportunity to define your characters not only in relation to the events of the plot and the people you encounter, but also in relation to one another. The game is framed using two main characters (male or female for both, take your pick), with starting classes that you can customize (or a number of presets). Or freeze the puddle and enemies with low agility will slip and fall, losing their turn. Cast a rain spell, which makes puddles on the ground, then cast a lightning spell on a puddle to create an electrified trap which damages and stuns any enemies that walk into it. The writing isn't amazing so far, but I haven't run across more than maybe one line that seems a bit cringe-worthy.Ĭombat is entirely turn based and the magic system is really complex with excellent interaction possibilities. Basically none of the game is voiced, meaning that you'll have a lot of reading, but the practical upshot is that there's a ton of solid dialogue available even for fairly inconsequential characters. The game itself is gorgeous, incredibly detailed and based on the couple hours I spent with it last night, really well crafted.
